Morning of Your Wedding: How to Help it Run Smoothly!
Planning out the morning of your wedding day? The morning of your wedding is oftentimes a fun, stress-free time for you to get ready with people you love! Here are some tips to help it run smoothly and get and get the best getting ready photos.
8 Tips for Wedding Day Getting Ready Essentials
Have your second shooter go to the second spouse
For example: I usually get the girls’ getting ready photos, so the second shooter would go to the boys! It may not take them nearly as much time to get ready but having photos of the boys’ wedding morning is just as important.
Give yourself enough time
Be sure to give yourself plenty of time on the morning of your wedding. It’s such a fun part of the day when the anticipation starts to ramp up! For tips on planning out your wedding day timeline check out this blog.
Tell your hair and makeup artist you need to be done an hour before you actually need to be done. Allow for wiggle room!!! This gives you time to relax, eat, and be present with your people. On my wedding day, I wrote letters to my parents during this time and it was such a sweet time to relax.
Have food and drinks set out for anyone who’s there
Consider this part of your day the pre-party party. Any great party needs good snacks! Think about your favorite foods and drinks and make sure there’s plenty to go around so you don’t end up with a hangry bridal party. If you’re a coffee drinker also make sure you have someone pick up your favorite drink on their way over so you can start your day right!
Play music!
It’s a crime to get ready without fun music on any given day, but especially your wedding day! Designate a friend to be in charge of making your getting-ready playlist so you don’t have to worry about a thing.
Have a clean getting-ready space
Getting ready before your wedding can be chaotic, to say the least. To maintain some of the mess make sure you designate a corner or wall to keep everyone’s stuff so you don’t have random junk in the back of your photos!
Who do you want there with you?
These are your last few single hours! So it’s up to you who you want to spend it with. Bridesmaids? Flower girl? Grandma? Mom? Aunts? Who is going to love you well and make you feel most beautiful? It’s completely up to you. Remember, this is YOUR day – even if it goes against tradition, you could even get ready with your soon-to-be spouse! Some people say that actually helps calm their nerves.
Know what special moments are important to you!
Are there any moments you’ve always envisioned having before your wedding ceremony? You know yourself well enough to know if you’ll want a short moment alone or with your parents, grandparents, partner, or bestfriends. Make sure to plan on these moments and communicate them with your wedding team so they can plan accordingly!
Have your dress fluffed and hanging out somewhere
Don’t forget to fluff your dress and hang it somewhere away from food and makeup! Also, hang up your bridesmaids’ dresses and have them steamed and ironed if you want them photographed as well.
How to Choose a Getting-Ready Location
If your venue doesn’t have a bridal suite or groom suite, you’ll need to choose a place to get ready the morning of your wedding!
Picking your getting-ready location is important! This is where your cute bridal party robe pics will be, where you’ll pop the champagne, and prep for your big day. Think about the space you want to get ready in– the natural light and open space. Look for a bright and airy space with white walls if you can! This is oftentimes where your first look will be too!
It can be nice to rent a fancy hotel room or cute AirBnB. Consider the classic-looking hotels in downtown KC or a little cottage outside the city center. That way you don’t have to take over someone’s house with wedding prep festivities! This venue can also be where you spend the night with your new spouse after the reception!
